(Rapid City, SD) — South Dakota is saying goodbye to two long-time public servants. Lyndell Petersen, a former state senator and Pennington County commissioner, has passed away at 93. Petersen served in the South Dakota Senate for 17 years and was later inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame. He was also a big part of the Central States Fair, the Western Junior Livestock Show, and the South Dakota Buckaroos. Former State Senator Mac McCracken also passed away last Friday at the age of 83. He served in the Senate from 2001 to 2008 and was active in many civic and community groups.
