(Bismarck, ND) — June 7th holds a special meaning in North Dakota. Governor Kelly Armstrong proclaimed the day as Prairie Day to recognize ranchers’ commitment to maintaining the state’s grasslands. Armstrong says only 25 percent of the historic prairies remain in North Dakota. He also emphasized the importance of private property owners helping to maintain biodiversity since the state lacks federal and public land compared to others.
