(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson is responding to gubernatorial candidate Toby Doeden calling him “evil.” In an interview Monday, Doeden said, “I’m light, I’m good. Dusty’s dark, Dusty’s evil. Those are going to be the two choices.” Johnson hasn’t even entered the race yet, but he fired back with a statement of his own. Johnson said South Dakotans deserve a leader who unites and is focused on being “a work horse, not a show horse.” He added, “It’s pretty clear Toby is not that person.” Johnson, the state’s lone U.S. House member, says he’s getting encouragement to run but hasn’t made a decision yet. The primary is set for June 2nd of next year.
