Thousands Of Gallons Of Produced Water Spilled In Bowman County

(Marmarth, ND) — Officials are investigating an industrial spill in Bowman County. Denbury Onshore reported that 228 barrels of produced water and 13 gallons of crude oil spilled on the company’s well pad. The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality says produced water is a by-product of oil and gas production that contains various chemicals, which can be toxic. State leaders and Denbury Onshore are working to clean the spill. No hazards to the public have been identified.
