(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Health is launching public vaccination clinics in response to this year’s measles outbreak. The MMR clinics will be in 11 communities over the next month, including Rapid City, Pierre, Hot Springs and Sturgis. This announcement comes as the state confirmed two more measles cases, bringing the total to four cases in South Dakota this year. Health officials say the MMR vaccine is safe, effective, and usually provides lifelong protection with two doses.
