State Employees Begin Training For New Government Accountability Rules

(Pierre, SD) — New government accountability laws take effect in South Dakota on July 1st, and training for state employees is already underway. Governor Larry Rhoden signed two new bills aimed at strengthening integrity in state government. One requires employees to report misconduct or crime, and the other protects whistleblowers from retaliation. The laws were introduced by Attorney General Marty Jackley and backed by the Governor’s Office. Rhoden also signed an executive order creating a secure reporting system along with the statewide training to support the new rules. He says it’s all about protecting taxpayers and making sure government stays accountable.
