Fireworks Returning To Mount Rushmore For America’s 250th Birthday

(Keystone, SD) — Fireworks are coming back to Mount Rushmore for America’s 250th birthday. South Dakota Governor Larry Rhoden and U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum signed an agreement Tuesday to begin planning the big celebration in 2026. Rhoden says the event brings to life what John Adams envisioned — an Independence Day full of “pomp, parade, bonfires and illuminations.” He thanked President Trump and Secretary Burgum for helping make it happen, and even extended an invite to Trump to attend. Burgum says the goal is to honor 250 years of American leadership and history at one of the country’s most iconic landmarks.
