Triple Murder Suspect Has Court Hearing

(Sioux Falls, SD) — A hearing was held Thursday for a 30-year-old man accused in a triple murder in Sioux Falls. Justin Rackley allegedly gunned down three people at a backyard gathering on the southside of the city in June of last year. He’s been in the Minnehaha County Jail ever since. Prosecutors and Rackley’s lawyers met for a status hearing before a judge to make sure the case is moving along. In late 2024, Rackley sent a handwritten note to the judge, saying he had been very clear in his intention to have a speedy trial and has in no way waived his rights verbally or by signature. Few details have been released on the crime, including what led up to the shooting and the relationship between the suspect and the victims. Police have only said that Rackley and the victims had been acquaintances for a short time. Rackley is from Texas and moved to South Dakota in 2020.
