(Bismarck, ND) — The North Dakota Attorney General is recommending a decision about the Burleigh County Auditor and Treasurer. AG Drew Wrigley stated to Governor Kelly Armstrong that Mark Splonskowski should not face removal proceedings from elected office. Wrigley said the closeness of the next general election led him to the decision. This comes after Splonskowski was accused of mishandling financial responsibilities and gross incompetence. The county commission is still pursuing the separation of the auditor and treasurer roles into an elected auditor and an appointed treasurer before next year’s general election.
