Acid Spill Leads To Evacuations, Shelter-In-Place Orders Near Wahpeton

(Wahpeton, ND) — Hazmat crews are reopening the area of a large chemical spill north of Wahpeton. Emergency crews were dispatched to the spill early Monday morning, as approximately two-thousand gallons of hydrochloric acid spilled from a container at the Cargill Facility. The incident prompted evacuations and shelter-in-place orders near the area. No injuries were reported, but officials are still determining if the spill affected the Red River.
