(Pierre, SD) — New questions are surfacing about former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s use of a federal political action committee tied to her and her inner circle. While serving as governor, Noem used a PAC called American Resolve to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars — much of it from wealthy Trump donors. Only a portion of that money helped support Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign. Some of it, though, went to people close to Noem, including her husband’s insurance business and a staff member from her time in office. Federal records also show the PAC covered travel, lodging, and equipment for a moose-hunting trip Noem took to Canada last fall. Her husband’s agency was paid five-thousand dollars, and a top aide received over ten-thousand dollars for event consulting. Noem’s name doesn’t appear on the PAC’s financial filings, but several of her longtime allies are listed as treasurers.
