(Sioux Falls, SD) — State investigators are looking into South Dakota’s fifth officer-involved shooting of the year. Police have identified the man shot by officers Monday night in Sioux Falls as 24-year-old Deondre Blackhawk. The shooting happened during an arrest attempt of Blackhawk near 10th and Garfield. He was wanted on felony drug and burglary warrants, as well as a suspect in a shooting Sunday that left a woman critically injured. Attorney General Marty Jackley says Blackhawk ran from officers and fired about six shots at them before being hit several times. No officers were hurt. Blackhawk remains hospitalized as both shootings are under investigation with the DCI leading the one involving officers.
