(Rapid City, SD) — Mike Diedrich, a longtime Rapid City legislator and public servant, has died. Former colleagues shared the news Saturday, honoring him as a thoughtful leader and dedicated community member. Mayor Jason Salamun called him a mentor and a true public servant who served with grace and commitment. Senator Casey Crabtree also shared memories, saying Diedrich brought out the best in those around him. Diedrich was also the first president of the Hanson-Larsen Memorial Park Foundation, which praised his lasting impact on preserving green space in Rapid City. He had taken a leave from public life earlier this year due to health issues.
