South Dakota Explores AI to Improve Healthcare Access

(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota is using artificial intelligence to help improve healthcare access across the state, especially in rural areas. At yesterday’s Sioux Falls Rotary Club meeting, healthcare advocates discussed the challenges the system currently faces. Secretary of Health Melissa Magstadt told Dakota News Now that AI is already being used for tasks like summarizing documents and analyzing data to improve planning. She says combining AI with tools like telehealth and mobile clinics will make healthcare easier to reach, no matter where people live. The Rotary Club will continue the conversation soon with a panel focused on training the next generation of healthcare providers.
