(Sioux Falls, SD) — A South Dakota inmate pleads not guilty in the overdose death of another prisoner at the state penitentiary. Twenty-one-year-old Manarion Fuse appeared in court via video, accused of giving fellow inmate Anthony Richards the synthetic drug K2 before Richards died in February. Fuse remains behind bars at the same facility where the incident happened. A jury trial is set for the first week of October, as investigators continue looking into how drugs are making it inside the prison. Officials say four inmates have died from overdoses in state custody so far this year.
