(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Public Broadcasting is scrambling to save jobs and programming after a major federal budget cut. Early Friday, the U.S. House approved nine-billion dollars in cuts, including all federal funding for PBS. SDPB Executive Director Julie Overgaard says they need to raise over two million dollars in under three months or face laying off up to a quarter of their staff. Longtime coverage like high school sports and the legislative session could be on the chopping block. The funding stops October 1st, leaving SDPB and others scrambling to adjust.
