(Brookings, SD) — Brookings parents and students are standing up for their recently fired high school principal. Justin Stanley says he was forced to resign or be terminated, and now plans to take legal action. At a packed school board meeting, supporters said Stanley made a real impact, crediting him with helping students graduate. Stanley calls the firing process unfair and lacking transparency. The board, which voted 5-0 to remove him in June, says it can’t legally discuss personnel matters. Assistant Principal Zach Thomas will step in as interim principal — the school’s fourth in four years.
