Gianforte Calls On Congress To Reverse Coal Rule

(Helena, MT) — Montana Governor Greg Gianforte is calling on Congress to reverse a rule he says threatens Montana’s coal industry. Gianforte wrote a letter to lawmakers yesterday in support of resolutions to reverse the Miles City Field Office Resource Management Plan Amendment. The Biden-era rule effectively ends future coal mining in the Miles City Field Office planning area, including part of the Powder River coal tract. Gianforte said the move impacts hundreds of Montanans who work in the industry and affects “the availability of reliable energy production” in the state.
