North Dakotans Prepare For Looming Canadian Tariffs

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota business owners and farmers are preparing for the upcoming Canadian tariffs. Starting next week, tariffs on imported goods from Canada will rise from 25 to 35-percent. North Dakota’s northern neighbor is its top trading partner, accounting for 25 percent of the state’s exports in energy, agriculture, and machinery. Tariffs were initially set to be increased in February but were frozen by President Trump. The freeze is set to end on August 1st, with the increased tariffs taking effect immediately.
