(Clearwater, FL) — Hulk Hogan, one of the most legendary professional wrestling icons, died on Thursday at the age of 71. Police said they responded to a medical call Thursday morning for a cardiac arrest, and the wrestling legend was treated at his home in Clearwater, Florida. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The WWE paid tribute to Hogan in a social media post, calling him “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures.” Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. His career came to an abrupt end in 2015 after a website leaked audio of a private conversation in which he repeatedly used racial slurs in comments about his daughter’s dating life. Hogan later apologized, and called his language “unacceptable.”
