Spring Wheat Tour Finds Slightly Lower Estimates Than Last Year

(FARGO, ND) — This year’s spring wheat and durum crops are looking good, albeit slightly smaller than last year, across much of North Dakota and Minnesota.

The 2025 Wheat Quality Council Spring Wheat and Durum Tour concluded on Thursday after scouts surveyed 307 fields over three days. The final three-day total weighted average yield estimate came in at 48.3 bushels per acre (bpa), slightly lower than the 2024 tour estimate of 53.8 bpa. Last year’s estimate was a record for the tour. The average spring wheat yield for this year was 49.0 bpa compared to last year’s 54.5 bpa while the average durum yield was 37.0 bpa this year. Last year’s durum yield came in at 45.3 bpa.

According to reports from DTN, scouts did find some remaining signs of farm damage from June storms that tore through North Dakota while also noting varying maturity and minimal overall issues as of now.
