Montana Senators Seeking Info About Wildfire Costs On Homeowners

(Undated) — Bipartisan senators will introduce legislation seeking information on how much growing wildfires are costing homeowners. According to a draft of the Wildfire Insurance Coverage Study Act shared with The Hill, Montana Republican Senator Tim Sheehy’s bill would require the U.S. Comptroller General to study the extent of growing wildfire risks. The study would also review whether private companies have refused to issue new policies to homeowners because of those risks. Sheehy is working with New Mexico Democrat Martin Heinrich on the measure.
