ND Loses Over 75% Of Grasslands

(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota has lost over 75 percent of the native grasslands. The state Game and Fish Department says millions of acres of grassland in the state have been converted into cropland since the early 2000s. Officials argue this leads to less carbon storage and biodiversity throughout North Dakota, including the loss of environmental benefits. More farmers and agriculturalists are now calling on state officials to incentivize grassland protection to help with generational growth.
