(Grand Forks, ND) — The Grand Forks School Board says it’s not taking a “cookie cutter” approach to Governor Kelly Armstrong’s “bell-to-bell” cellphone ban in schools. Earlier this year, the State Legislature approved the ban, which extends beyond the classroom. “Personal electronic communication devices” are also banned during lunch and recess, as well as time between classes. Superintendent Terry Brenner says he “wants to put people at ease” that exceptions can be made for students on an Individualized Education Program or students with disabilities. Brenner added “there’s going to be some common sense with this.”
