(Rapid City, SD) — Black Hills Energy has broke ground on a major new power plant, marking the next chapter in its 142-year legacy.
The 280-million-dollar project, called Lange II, will bring fast, reliable energy to customers in South Dakota and northeast Wyoming. CEO Linn Evans says it’s about more than just steel and concrete, it’s a commitment to the region’s growth. The 99-megawatt facility will feature six quick-start engines, ready to meet demand during peak energy days.
Rapid City Mayor Jason Salamun calls it a spark for even more development in the area. The plant is expected to go online by late 2026.
