(Bismarck, ND) — Speed limits on North Dakota highways are up, but speeding violations are trending downward. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says drivers exceeding the speed limit dropped 25-percent in the first two weeks of the new state law. Lawmakers approved an increase to 80 miles per hour on state highways earlier this year, which went into effect on August 1st. Authorities are reminding drivers to exercise caution as reaction times to slower vehicles shrink with higher speed limits.
