NDHHS Issues Warning As West Nile Virus Hospitalizations Increase

(Bismarck, ND) — West Nile Virus-related hospitalizations are increasing throughout North Dakota. The state’s Health and Human Services department says that eleven people were hospitalized in recent weeks after contracting the virus. This brought the state’s total to 26 confirmed human infections in 2025. Nine of those patients reportedly suffered nervous system complications. West Nile Virus activity typically peaks in August, as officials advise North Dakotans to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
