(Watertown, SD) — A Watertown family who fled war-torn Ukraine is breathing a huge sigh of relief. Valerii [[ val – airy ]] and Ilona [[ ill – ona ]] Biliaze [[ billy – oz – e ]] found out yesterday they can stay in the U.S. for two more years. The decision comes as the family with three kids feared having to leave the country Sunday. The Biliazes say they’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the support from their community, church, and local leaders. Their sponsor, Susan Buhler, says she burst into tears when their case was approved. The family plans to look into applying for green a green card or citizenship while enjoying the extended time together.
