(Mitchell, SD) — South Dakota’s top lawmakers sit down with farmers at Dakotafest to talk about the future of agriculture. Senators Thune and Rounds, along with Congressman Dusty Johnson, took questions in Mitchell Wednesday at a packed Ag Policy Forum. Thune says a new farm bill is critical as farmers face low prices and high costs. Johnson agrees that it can’t be delayed any longer. Rounds raised concerns about how tariffs could hit both ag and the wider economy. One local producer, Brett Adee of Bruce, said fake imported honey is destroying his business and hopes Washington takes notice of the challenges smaller, unique operations are facing.
