(Undated) — There’s now a rare split in guidance for parents when it comes to the COVID vaccine, and one South Dakota health expert is weighing in. The CDC, under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is no longer recommending it for healthy kids under 18. But the American Academy of Pediatrics still does, especially for kids under two. Sanford Health’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jeremy Cauwels, says their pediatricians trust the AAP and generally follow its advice. He says the vaccine’s safety record is strong and warns that more children still get seriously ill from skipping vaccines than from any side effects. His message to parents is that every child is different and recommends talking to a doctor before making a decision.
