Rancher’s Rights Initiative Files Lawsuit Against ND Beef Commission

(Bismarck, ND) — The Rancher’s Rights Initiative is filing a lawsuit for unfair representation on the North Dakota Beef Commission. RRI argues that the state’s Beef Commission should hold elections for its sitting members and be divided into multiple districts. The nonprofit filed the lawsuit last month, arguing there aren’t enough independent ranchers on the commission. The State of North Dakota argues the complaint is past the statute of limitations while denying most claims within the lawsuit. A trial is scheduled for August 2026 regarding the Beef Commission’s appointment process.
