Dan Piroutek, a marketing agent at Belle Fourche Livestock Market, says beef prices have hit record highs, helping ranchers despite fewer cattle available. Local rancher Wesley Wood agrees the price increases are necessary but hopes rising costs don’t push consumers away from beef. Jesse Fonkert, president of South Dakota Trade, says the trade mission is all about building relationships and opening doors for businesses overseas.
