Western ND Teens Avoid Jail Time For Burning Teen

(Hettinger County, ND) — Two North Dakota teens will avoid jail time after setting fire to another teen. Jaren Rafferty and Daniel Dewall accepted a deal to plead guilty to assault this week. The charges stemmed from an incident on January 1st, with the teens dousing brake fluid on a 16-year-old and setting them on fire. Investigators say the victim suffered second-degree burns on 27-percent of his body. Dewall and Rafferty received two years of unsupervised probation after this week’s sentencing.
