(Sioux Falls, SD) — A familiar face in South Dakota’s nonprofit world is officially jumping into the race for Congress. Bill Mawhiney, who leads the South Dakota Afterschool Network, announced his run for the U.S. House on Thursday. He says he’s not a career politician, just someone who wants to put people ahead of politics and bring rural and working families to the table. Mawhiney lives in Sioux Falls with his husband and two kids and has spent nearly 20 years working to expand child care, education, and afterschool programs across the state.
