(Surrey, ND) — A plan has been approved to buy out the former Surrey Public School Superintendent. Yesterday, school board officials announced the approval to buy out David Gerding’s contract. The buyout was proposed after the Surrey Education Association reached a unanimous vote of no confidence in Gerding to serve in the position last July. Surrey staff members reportedly filed complaints of a hostile work environment and unprofessional conduct against Gerding. His buyout includes his base salary and 43 vacation days spread throughout two different tax years.
