(Fargo, ND) — The Cass County Jail is partially opening its 31-million-dollar expansion. Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the jail opened its first floor this past weekend as part of a soft opening. This comes after the facility was reportedly forced to turn away more than two-thousand arrests in recent years due to capacity issues. Jahner also noted that the jail can now house up to 444 inmates thanks to the partial opening. The full expansion will bring the facility’s total bed count to 540, as the second floor still requires more construction before it can be used.
