Former ND Game And Fish Dept. Director Facing GSI Charge

(Mandan, ND) — The former director of the North Dakota Game and Fish Department is facing sex crimes involving a minor. Authorities say Terry Steinwand was arrested on Friday and officially charged yesterday with gross sexual imposition. A therapist reportedly told police that Steinwand inappropriately touched a family member under the age of 15 and forced the victim to touch him inappropriately. Police say the man admitted to touching the child on multiple occasions. Steinwand was initially appointed as the state’s Game and Fish director in 2006 and was reappointed in 2010 and 2016.
