news

(Mountrail County, ND) — Authorities are investigating how over 20-thousand barrels of emulsion spilled from a pipeline in Mountrail County. The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality says over 840-thousand gallons of a mixture of crude oil and produced water spilled from a Hess Corporation pipeline last Friday. It happened roughly four miles northwest of Stanley and reportedly flowed 250 yards over agricultural land. The company says it first noticed the spill when it observed a discrepancy in its data. Officials have not identified any impacted water sources in the area, as the cause of the spill remains under investigation.
