(Harwood, ND) — Construction is officially underway for the controversial data center in Harwood. Applied Digital’s three-billion-dollar AI center is located near the North Softball Complex and will soon be home to a 280-megawatt facility resting on 160 acres of land. City council members gave the final approval for the project on September 10th, as crews began excavating the area yesterday. Harwood Mayor Blake Hankey claims that any criticism or protests against the development came from non-residents, as locals allegedly support the project. The Polaris Forge 2 center is expected to be fully operational by 2027 and offer hundreds of jobs to North Dakota’s market.
