(Aberdeen, SD) — A 69-year-old Aberdeen woman is speaking out after being arrested for allegedly threatening Republican gubernatorial candidate Toby Doeden at a Northern State University football game. Shauna King admits she approached Doeden, saying, “We got Kirk, you’re next,” but says she didn’t flee and turned herself in when police arrived. King tells KELOLAND News she acted impulsively due to mental health struggles and regrets her actions, saying she is not violent and plans to plead guilty. Doeden thanked police and emphasized that violence has no place in politics. King is scheduled for arraignment September 30th on misdemeanor charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct, which carry possible jail time and fines.
