(Rapid City, SD) — A suspected drunk driver is in the hospital after crashing into the Rapid City Police Department’s Southwest Precinct early Sunday morning. Police say 36-year-old Kelsey Herrald of Rapid City was thrown from the SUV before it hit the building and was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. A preliminary breath test showed Herrald’s blood alcohol level at point-2-1-7, nearly three times the legal limit. Herrald faces a second DUI charge, plus counts for no insurance and driving without a valid license. According to police, the vehicle went over a curb and down an embankment before hitting the precinct, but fortunately no one was inside at the time.
