(Rapid City, SD) — Construction crews are racing to finish what will be one of the nation’s largest gun ranges just north of Rapid City It comes despite some earlier opposition from lawmakers and neighbors. Located about 12 miles out on Elk Vale Road in Meade County, the 20-million-dollar Pete Lien and Sons Shooting Sports Complex is set to open to the public Saturday, November 8th. Workers are busy on the 400-acre site building 160 shooting bays for rifles, handguns, and shotguns, a tactical range for moving targets. there will also be a 10-thousand-square-foot main building for events, law enforcement training, and firearm education. South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks says excitement is high among shooting enthusiasts across the state as the project nears completion.
