Williston Fire Department Adjusts Emergency Response Procedures

(Williston, ND) — The Williston Fire Department will adjust emergency response procedures to maintain efficiency. Officials say firefighters will no longer respond to minor traffic accidents on streets and highways. Instead, the department will continue to respond to reports of injuries or spills on the road, as well as to property accidents when requested by law enforcement. Overall, the department is allowing 9-1-1 operators to screen which calls are critical and those that only require a police presence, to delegate whether fire personnel are needed. Officials say the adjustment will help improve its response to the most critical calls.
