(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota lawmakers are signing off on a plan to build a new men’s prison in Sioux Falls. During a special session Tuesday, both the House and Senate approved the 650-million-dollar project, which will replace the state’s 144-year-old penitentiary. Governor Rhoden signed the bill into law last night and says construction should start next year. The new facility is expected to take about four years to complete.
