ND Co-Op Receives $2.8M For 2024 Wildfires

(Williams County, ND) — Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative will receive nearly three-million-dollars for damages caused by the 2024 wildfires. Officials announced this week that McKenzie and Williams counties will receive financial assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency following former President Biden’s presidential disaster declaration last December. The funding will help address eight-million-dollars in infrastructure damage between the counties after a tree knocked down one of Mountrail-Williams’s power poles. This resulted in over 118-thousand acres of land burned and two fatalities. The incident was eventually ruled accidental.
