(Undated) — Governor Rhoden and a bipartisan group of governors are urging Congress to give states more authority to tackle drone threats. The governors sent a letter highlighting repeated drone intrusions over critical infrastructure, public events, prisons, and military bases, and they want states to have powers similar to the federal government to respond. Rhoden says, “Drones have a lot of value, but they’ve also brought concerns for espionage and spying.” He adds this would support South Dakota’s GRIT task force, which is reviewing threats to critical infrastructure and developing policy recommendations. Other governors joining the call include leaders from Wyoming, Nebraska, Illinois, and New York.
