(Custer, SD) — Thousands of people packed into Custer State Park Friday morning for the 60th annual Buffalo Roundup. More than 14-hundred bison were herded in for health checkups and vaccinations. Governor Rhoden joined dozens of riders on horseback to help guide the animals. The process was slowed down by the heat as well as a few cranky bison putting up a chase before finally moving into the corral. Park staff say the roundup has become a South Dakota tradition, drawing crowds year after year to see the massive herd up close.
