(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakotans may see limited immediate effects from the federal shutdown as officials assure that most services will continue operating. The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says all entitlement programs will continue, including Medicaid, SNAP, and the Child Care Development Fund. The federal court system will also continue to operate statewide, as all North Dakota airports are expected to remain open. However, in-person services at the Department of Veterans Affairs may be affected by the closure of some regional offices. Governor Kelly Armstrong and Senator Kevin Cramer are hopeful that the U.S. Senate will reach a vote by Monday to reopen the federal government.
