(Helena, MT) — A new report is detailing the massive impact fishing has on Montana’s economy. The study by Fish, Wildlife, and Parks and the University of Montana shows angler activity in 2024 added more than 900-million dollars to the state’s GDP and supported nearly 16-thousand jobs. More than 450-thousand people over the age of 18 purchased licenses and spent more than one-point-two-billion dollars on fishing trips. The study was divided into cold-water and warm-water fishing, showing the vast majority of dollars were spent by those participating in cold-water fishing.
