(Watertown, MN) — Flags are being lowered for a Minnesota firefighter who died during a prescribed burn in Idaho. Tributes are being paid to the 26-year-old Isabella “Bella” Oscarson from Watertown who died in a tragic accident. Oscarson was working a seasonal wild land firefighter for the Idaho Department of Lands when she was struck by a falling tree in September. A graduate of Watertown-Mayer High School in 2017, Oscarson joined the Minnesota Conservation Corps after earning her associates degree, and then worked for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. During her too-short career, she “fought fires in multiple states and Canada,” according to the Minnesota Fire Service Foundation.
